About Amy – Los Angeles Jewelry Designer
Raised in Los Angeles, CA, Amy was born in an internment camp during WWII to Japanese American parents. Despite the prevalent discrimination at the time, Amy was determined to stand out and make a difference in her community. She used the design of jewelry and accessories to feel empowered and boost her sparkling personality. She expressed a love for jewelry, handcrafts, sewing, and exceptionally pretty things in general from a very young age. As a little girl, she emphasized her preference for surfaces that had some kind of shine or shimmer. She developed a strong affinity for accessorizing her outfits, but faced limitations with her options due to the high cost of fine jewelry. So instead, Amy began designing her own accessories in order to fully express her distinct sense of style. As her skills grew, her personal pieces began garnering attention and interest from friends, acquaintances, and the occasional passerby. What started as a pastime of making accessories for herself and close friends, eventually grew into a product that was high in demand. Her goal was clear: empower women through jewelry. Because of this, Amy decided to take the leap by turning her passion into her career as a jewelry designer, and established Amy Ming, LLC.
Initially, Amy’s brand focused primarily on 14K gold and jade jewelry. She quickly grew her knowledge base and instincts when it came to selecting the right stones from which to craft her pieces. Through this experience, Amy was able to hone her eyes for quality and eventually began applying that talent to all of her material purchases. It is for this reason that one of the signature features of the Amy Ming line is that the stones are unrivaled in their quality, brilliance, and uniqueness. With her preference for unusual stones and pearls, Amy’s pieces are often times wearable abstract art.
The beauty of Amy’s pieces is a direct reflection of her nature. Those fortunate enough to know her, or having had the pleasure of meeting her, will attest to her genuine kindness and generosity. She is not only a jewelry designer, but an active member of the community and regularly donates some of her best work for non-profit and community outreach fundraising events. Amy regularly collaborates with charities such as LAMP, Downtown Women’s Center, Oprah’s Angel Network, County of LA Mental Health Department, March of Dimes, So-Phis of Orange County, Japanese American National Museum, and Susan G. Koman for the Cure, among others. In her own words, “Sometimes we can’t help very many people on our own, so I support organizations that can.”
I go to the hair salon near you and I have seen your jewelry up close and personal. I love all of it! You really have your hand on the pulse of what ladies can wear and look like a celebrity in the magazines and you also have great finds for regular working folk who need to look nice on their job.

Amy Ming style is like none other and I love everything in her store. I’ve called Amy last minute many times when I needed a beautiful piece of jewelry for a wedding, a movie premiere or a gala and she always takes care of me by helping me select the best piece of jewelry that goes with my outfit. If you love Gemstones, Diamonds or Big Bold Earrings, you have to go to Amy Ming’s Jewelry store. You can also buy online. I purchased jewelry online while I was traveling to NYC for an event and she was nice enough to send it to me.
I received my jewelry today and I am very happy with both pieces!! Thank you again for adding the 2 rings to the toggle clasp on the red coral flower necklace as I do need the extra length they provide. The druzy bracelet is beautiful too and you described the color right on. It is definitely a steel/hematite grey color. I will enjoy wearing both pieces!!! The shipping was great too–all the way across the country and delivered in 48 hours. I will continue to check your web site for any new pieces that catch my eye. Thank you for the great customer service!
